These are the 5 nutrition habits that I follow each and every day.
As we recently learned, I have a history with disordered eating. This means I make a conscious effort every day to fuel my body properly and to be mindful of my negative thinking. Luckily, those moments are rare and fleeting. But these practices have definitely kept me sane and healthy.
Healthy eating can seem daunting to anyone so I wanted to share these five tips in case they help you not only develop healthy habits, but maybe to mend the relationship you have with food/eating.

I truly believe it is the little things that we do in our daily routine that make or break us. Have you ever felt this overwhelming feeling of “blah”? Well, I have.
The first thing I did was take a look at my routine. What was I doing all day long? How did I spend my mornings? How was I going to bed? How was I getting my ish done?
What I discovered was my routine was shit. For a quick example, I would wake up and immediately grab my phone. I would scroll my instagram. Then just spend the rest of the day going in circles trying to make things happen. I would go to bed completely defeated.
Here’s why. My mornings had zero intention. There was no purpose. Also, I would immediately compare myself, my life, and my day to what I would see on my feed (even if I didn’t think that was happening)
I would go through the day feeling inspired through my own vision and thoughts, but would shut them down because it wasn’t “as good” as what I had seen. The more time that went on, the further I got from myself.
All of this to say, I no longer look at my phone in the am.
So, what is my anxiety free morning routine? Well, honestly it starts the night before.

Happy 2019! I can’t believe another year has already come and gone, but I know this year will be our best yet.
With each new year- comes goals and resolutions. One of the most common goals of the new year is to eat healthier, and I know many people will be trying plant-based eating. According to a survey completed in the UK, it is expected that 3 million people will be going vegan this year.
There is no denying that the plant-based trend is growing. Between the new brands and products on store shelves, the continued increase in obesity, heart diseases, and cancer, and the research that is being published regarding the state of our environment – more and more people are considering transitioning to this lifestyle. Luckily, it’s easier now more than ever.
I wanted to make it ever easier…

As a counselor, the biggest question I get asked is, “How do I find my purpose?” This is always such a hard question to answer, because our purpose ultimately comes from what we take away from our experiences and aspirations, and is incredibly personal. Plus, I too struggle with defining my purpose and with finding ways to remain truthful to it.
The truth is, finding your true purpose is just step one of the process. You then have to create goals that define your focus, create an intentional routine that will help you achieve these goals, and then continuously check-in with yourself to make sure you are aligned with your goals and purpose. A lot of us (myself included) get really caught up in creating goals and placing focus on the wrong things.
Let me explain.
Four years ago, I was a senior in undergrad studying medicine and biology. I was part of a sorority, had a position of leadership in a couple clubs, and had a pretty great social life. However, I was completely and utterly detached from myself. There were many times where I would be in tears wondering how I felt so alone, unhappy, and unlike myself. When a problem would occur, I would ask myself, “What would Taylor do?” just constantly trying to get back in touch with the girl I once was.
My purpose in life has always been to help others. I have felt this since I was just a gal in diapers. However, as I got older my why had become clouded with wants and desires. This caused me to create goals that weren’t truly aligned with my purpose, and were more about pleasing others and my superficial self rather than focusing on what I actually wanted just for me.
For instance, I had zero interest in being a doctor. I just knew that doctors made a lot of money, and I would be financially taken care of. Also, no hate on the people in my life at this time, but I was surrounding myself with people who were not at all aligned with who I was. I kept them close simply to check the box of having a social life. I was only going after outward goals.

“Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love.”
– Bradley Whitford
Life is filled with cycles of ups and downs. Just as it is promised that there will be highs- there is sure to be lows. There is just no way to avoid the inevitable. However, we have the power to change the way we perceive and react to the hard times. I like to remember that I can only control so much, and one of the things I have complete control over is how I feel. We have the power to choose happiness over sadness, or light over darkness. I try my hardest to choose light and happiness. I have created a list of ways to help brighten my mood, and I like to refer to it when needed. Continue reading “50 Ways to Brighten up your Mood”
