My Healthy Morning Routine

I have been living for my morning routine lately. It’s the perfect blend of productive action, and relaxed self-care. I like to change up my routine every now and then, but I always come back to these basics, because they work best. I love this routine, because it gives me enough energy and motivation to drive me through my day. Also, it’s filled with healthy hacks to make sure I’m starting my mind and body off on the right foot. So, if you’re looking to spruce up your routine, or are wanting to start over completely- give this one a try.

  1. I wake up at 5:30-6:30 am everyday

I’m a girl who can wake up super early, no problem, but I hate when my day starts and is immediately hectic and overwhelming. This means I wake up with enough time to be able to ease myself into the day.  I usually wake up and stay in bed for a few minutes, and then get up and immediately change into my workout clothes.

HACK 1: If you want to start working out in the morning, but struggle with the motivation then lay out your workout outfit the night before. This helps, because it acts as a physical reminder that you have a goal to accomplish. Some days I will wake up and have literally ZERO motivation to get to my workout. On days like this I just want to roll over and stay in bed, but then I look over and see my gym outfit laying on the floor. I know that I will feel worse about missing the workout, and that I will just have to do it later in the day. This always makes me decide to just get up.

HACK 2: If you struggle with waking up early, set a couple alarms before your actual desired wake up time. For instance, I want to wake up at 6:00 so I have an alarm that I set at 5:30 am. This may seem crazy, but it helps me ease into waking up since I can press snooze, and I find that I am in a much better mood.

  1. I drink 8 ounces of water

I’m really trying to maintain a daily water intake of 2 liters a day. This is coming from a girl who barely got through one bottle a day a month ago. There’s a lot of benefits to starting your day off with a glass of water. We all know them, but what i really want to emphasize is that it greatly improves you digestion throughout the day.

HACK 1: Get a reusable bottle that tracks your intake throughout the day. I find that when I am able to track my intake I am more likely to get my recommended amount in. Maybe it’s the fact that you can not pretend that you drank more than you did- it’s all right there in front of you. My favorite is the hidrate bottle. It syncs with your phone and lights up when you need to drink more water. More than that, it syncs with your location/health app so if you are traveling and are walking a lot or are somewhere extra warm it will adjust your goal to be higher than normal. It’s perfection. My favorite part though- it has a celebration glow party when you reach your goal, which makes the experience fun.

HACK 2: Make infused water. Specifically, using lemon to help improve your skin.

  1. Morning workout

Most days I get my workout in the am as soon as I get up. I like working out in the morning because it ensures that I do it (haha) and I feel extra motivated throughout the day. I usually do my workouts first thing, without food in my stomach.

  1. Shower/ get ready

I am all about efficiency when it comes to my morning beauty routine. I don’t like to spend a whole lot of time getting ready, as I currently work from home. I am constantly searching for products that really work, while also keeping my routine short and effective. Here are my favorite products that have really helped this along:

  1. Hello Smile Activated Charcoal Toothpaste
  2. Ole henriksen pore refining toner
  3. Ole henriksen c-serum
  4. Drunk elephant serum
  5. cera – ve spf moisturizer
  6. Laura mercier spf tinted moisturizer (what i use most days instead of foundation)
  7. Maybeline lash blast waterproof mascara
  8. Makeup forever setting spray
  9. Nivia lotion

5. Look over and plan my day

Once I am all dressed and ready to go, I take time and look over my planner to see what I have planned for the day. I then prioritize the most important tasks and revolve my day around making sure they get done first thing. Once i have a clear understanding of the day, I write my intention and affirmation for the day. It’s a simple yet effective tactic to make sure you have a positive day.

  1. Coffee

By far the best part of the morning- am I right?! If I’m not heading to a coffee shop I will make a latte with the nespresso machine and oat milk. If you haven’t tried oat milk yet- stop reading and go buy some- don’t worry this post will still be here. It’s the bees knees for sure. If I go to a coffee shop- I usually opt for a cold brew.

  1. Protein Smoothie

If I am not fasting that day, I will make a protein smoothie and slowly sip it as I start working to be sure I stay full into lunch. However, I have been practicing intermittent fasting-so there are some days when I don’t eat until 1 or 1:30 p.m. I like to rotate my fasting days in order to keep my system guessing. I can do a whole other post on this topic!

HACK: If you want to try intermittent fasting, but are a starving beast in the morning- like me… drink a coffee and a lot of water.

  1. Start working

I get working until it’s time for lunch!

Thanks for reading guys!
